Overview
Hydrostatic testing is a crucial diagnostic procedure where gas cylinders are filled with a liquid (usually water) and pressurized beyond their normal operating limits. This process measures volumetric expansion to ensure the cylinder walls have not lost elasticity over time, guaranteeing they can safely contain highly pressurized gas without risk of rupture.
The Process
Our laboratory is equipped with precision hydro-testing rigs calibrated to stringent safety tolerances. Details will be confirmed by our technical team prior to testing.
- Preparation: Evacuation and valve removal.
- Water Fill: Cylinder is filled with water and sealed in the testing chamber.
- Pressurization: Pressure is applied up to the designated test pressure.
- Expansion Measurement: Total and permanent volumetric expansion is recorded via specialized burettes.
- Drying & Assembly: Hot air drying, internal inspection, and valve refitting if the cylinder passes the safety threshold.
